Easter weekend was quite busy.
Friday... We went to the neighborhood easter egg hunt and potluck dinner. Fun, fun, and more fun! We are so grateful for such wonderful neighbors for planning and holding this event. The kids all have such a great time. And this year, I think it was awesome that the teenagers were able to have their own flashlight easter egg hunt. (We were all thinking..."is it EVER going to get DARK?") Ashlyn and her friends came into the house with loads of eggs - they were in candy heaven!
Our neighborhood is so FUN!
Oh, we were able to squeeze in decorating our easter eggs soon after school, but before the neighborhood party. Why do I always wait til the last minute?
Saturday... Soccer practice for Michael, baseball practice for Bobby and Tim (cuz he's the coach!), soccer game for Corissa in Herriman. Pick up movies throughout the day when we had time. We went to a friends' daughter's baptism which was really, really nice. Then we had to hurry home so we could be on our way to Desert Star with the girls to watch "American Fork Idol". That was pretty good. But, we really loved the Olio after the show. Afterwards, Tim and I went to pick up more movies. It was a non-stop day.
Oh, we also went shopping for trees for our yard. We considered hiring someone to come help us decide what to plant and where, but we found a great place really close to our home and the lady was extremely helpful. We brought our "rough" sketch of our yard and a list of trees we were interested in and about where we would like them and she helped us decide if they would look good there or not. She was really great. I will definitely go there again. We ended up buying 10 new trees and it's so exciting. They were delivered about 1 hour after we got home and we told the kids that they each get to pick their favorite as a present for Easter and it will be their tree.

Ashlyn - She said she didn't want one. I told her that the flowering pear is very pretty, but she said she would just have the blueberry bushes. Hmmmm. Whatever! Leave it to a teenager...
Sunday... Went to church. We told the Easter Bunny to wait until we were in church to come visit. (Good thing he listens well!)
Tim spoke in church today. He did a really good job, I thought. I always love hearing him talk. Mostly when he talks he tries to make people laugh, but this time it was a pretty serious topic. He talked about the last week of Christ's life and how He fulfilled His mission upon this earth. He helped us to understand the power of the Atonement and that because of Christ we can have the chance to be forgiven of our sins and live with our Heavenly Father again. Of course, he had to throw in several stories that just made me bawl. It was a good talk.
When we got home from church, we took a family picture in the backyard (with the wind blowing and all). The kids really wanted to go inside and look for eggs. But Tim led each one of them to their room, through the front door, one by one, with their eyes closed, so they could change their clothes. When they were all ready, they searched for eggs. The Easter Bunny sure was tough this year. Each of them had 6 plastic eggs (they only look for their color) and 4 hard boiled eggs that they decorated previously. They also had a few prizes to go along with some of the eggs - Chocolate bunny, Chex mix or teddy Grahams, gatorade, peeps. It was fun to watch them. It is amazing that the kids still get so excited to find eggs. We really had an enjoyable day.
